CLASS1 Site Stenløse

Stenløse - a town in Northern Zealand – is part of Egedal Municipality. Egedal has decided to strengthen the energy requirements for a new settlement to be erected. More than 400 dwellings, a kindergarten and an activity centre for elderly people will be designed and constructed with a heating energy consumption and an overall primary energy consumption better than it is required for a low energy class 1 building according to the Danish Building regulation from 2008 (BR08) which is close to low energy class 2015 in the newest Danish Building Regulation.

GEOCOM Site Galanta

Galanta is situated in the south-western part of Slovakia, near Bratislava. Spread over 396 ha, the town has 16 500 residents. The exploration of geothermal energy in Galanta began back in the 1980s when drilling works for geothermal wells were initiated. Since the mid-1990s, these wells have been used for heating the energy supply via district heating.

SESAC Site Delft

Delft, with 100,000 inhabitants in the province of South Holland between Rotterdam and The Hague wants to become a CO2 neutral city. In relation to that ambition, the City council adopted the Update Climate plan 2008-2012 with the objective to emit 15% less CO2 by 2012, raise the share of renewable energy to 5% of the total Delft energy consumption in comparison to 1990 and use 15% less energy.

ECO-Life Site Birštonas

Birstonas demo site was not implemented. The project found that it is not feasible to deeply refurbish social housing which is collectively owned by the inhabitants (energy bills are paid by the municipality therefore there is no incitement energy saving). If financing sources such as structural funds can be combined with other funds that together cover more than 50% of the costs, then it can be possible. As this was not the case, the original plans in the project with the demonstrations in Lithuania were canceled.
