More liveable space for more residents

Through the +CityxChange project Limerick has worked hard to gain significant knowledge and understanding of the conditions to support the creation of PEDs. Working with many stakeholders to overcome obstacles, PED development is being advanced in the city through various initiatives such as the Pilot Retrofitting Grant Scheme aimed at retrofitting historic buildings. 

Key outcomes and achievements in Limerick:

The City of Pamplona is considered to be the city with the highest quality of life in Spain. Also, it is highly regarded for developing its energy grid based renewable energy resources (RES).                              

Other than providing RES to the community, it will other smart and sustainable solutions for its communities by empowering and protecting the citizens through fair and socially inclusive actions.

Dresden is a city of knowledge and skills. Almost half of all workers have scientific and technological careers or have studied a subject in that field. The people of Dresden have a deep-rooted tradition of engineering and openness towards new technologies. The interdisciplinary collaboration between businesses and research facilities helps move Dresden forward.

Valencia is a coastal town located in the midst of a large metropolitan area. The current City Hall Government is decidedly committed to innovation and sustainability as the basis of a new model of global social development that respects both people and the environment. Under the MAtchUp program, Valencia will develop a total of 52 innovative actions in regard to energy, mobility and ICT in various neighbourhoods.

The Munich lighthouse demonstration area within the SMARTER TOGETHER project is located at the western edge of the city, and includes both the large urban redevelopment area Neuaubing-Westkreuz and the flagship new development area Freiham, set to become a model of low-carbon development for up to 20 000 new residents and 7 500 new jobs. With the aid of cutting-edge technology and the intelligent use of data, Munich’s objectives are to cut CO2 emissions by more than 20 %, raise the use of renewable energy to above 20 % and increase energy efficiency by more than 20 %.
