InCUBE Site Trento

InCUBE will mainly focus on the deep renovation of the Centro Servizi Culturali Santa Chiara, owned by the Municipality of Trento and one of the most important centres for cultural and recreational activities of the city. This building was built in 1235 (as the Monastery of S.Chiara) and has around 200 users. The energy needs of the building will be reduced by half and the renewable energy production will be increased to 864 MWh per year (photovoltaic and geothermal).

Half of the energy consumed in Europe is used for heating and cooling, and 75% of this energy is still coming from fossil fuels. Additionally, much of this energy is wasted due to inefficiencies in the heating and cooling systems. State-of-the-art, sustainable district heating and cooling systems offer a unique opportunity to make significant contributions to decarbonise EU cities through the efficient distribution of heat and cold from renewable energy sources.

HEAT4COOL Valencia

Suptropical Mediterranean climate with very mild winters and long warm to hot summers. The annual average temperature is 17.8 °C. Building from 2001. Ground floor assigned to commercial use, and 4 other floors, which are dedicated to residential use. The building has a centralized natural gas boiler and there are no installed RES for heating or electricity. The annual final energy consumption is 61 kWh/m2, of which 54 kWh/m2 from natural gas and 7 kWh/m2 from electricity.

Stardust Pamplona

The City of Pamplona is considered to be the city with the highest quality of life in Spain. Also, it is highly regarded for developing its energy grid based renewable energy resources (RES).                              

Other than providing RES to the community, it will other smart and sustainable solutions for its communities by empowering and protecting the citizens through fair and socially inclusive actions.

BUILDSMART Site Malmö

The city of Malmö participated in the BUILDSMART project with the construction of four different types of new buildings – a hotel, office and two residential buildings – with a focus on their sustainability. The buildings are located in two areas of the city – Malmö Live, in central Malmö, and in the south-east part of the city, known as Hyllie.
