Smart Cities Marketplace Activities at the Smart City Expo World Congress

In addition to the joint representation of European Commission projects and initiatives, the Smart Cities Marketplace is organising and participating in several activities at the Smart Cities Expo World Congress 2024.

We look forward to meeting you at SCEWC 2024 to experience insightful Agora and booth sessions and to expand your network. 

To make use of the Smart Cities Marketplace matchmaking services, representatives of city administrations and smart city project developers visiting us at the SCEWC are invited to submit their project ideas through this link. Our experts will be available at the joint EC stand to help shape your project concept together with you and discuss your ideas.

  •  Driving Urban Sustainability: Achieving net-zero the just way, 16:30-17:15, Congress session I Hall 3 I Congress: Red Room: 
    • EU cities are key to advancing climate mitigation, adaptation, net-zero goals, and competitiveness while ensuring social inclusion, as acknowledged — among other things — by the Covenant of Mayors initiative. This session explores accelerating cities' sustainable and just transformation through Local Green Deals, deploying new net-zero technologies, and creating strategies to make climate neutrality appealing, competitive, accessible, and just.

    • This session explores how data-driven approaches improve efficiency and sustainability across urban mobility sectors, including smart tourism, urban logistics, and passenger transport (public and private). Speakers will represent policy, best practices, and public/private partnerships, addressing key challenges and proposing solutions to integrate data for smarter, more sustainable cities.
  • Innovative Financing Options and Private Capital for Energy Transition in Cities, 13:30-14:15, Agora session I Orange agora, Hall 2:
    • As subsidies run out, cities need new financing solutions for energy transition. Explore less traditional funding options and key barriers cities face based on consultations on attitudes to innovative financing instruments on a local level. Learn what options cities have and how to secure private capital and overcome obstacles. Missing this session means missing critical insights that could leave your city behind in the race to climate neutrality.
  • 1-to-1 advisory services of the Smart Cities Marketplace, 17:00-17:30, Booth session I Booth D 81, Hall 2:
    • Focus: In-depth presentation of 1-to-1 advisory services covering legal, technical, financial, and governance-related challenges for smart city projects, focusing on support for funding and financing. A tailored team of experts supports a city or a city-led consortium to address a smart city project's legal, technical, financial, and governance-related gaps.
