After four years of collaboration and innovation, the BuiltHub project has reached its successful conclusion. Launched with the mission to compile and share building stock data to improve policies and business solutions, BuiltHub was funded under the Horizon 2020 program to create a roadmap for a durable, FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) dataflow, laying the foundation for sustainable building practices in Europe.
Through the development of a robust web-based platform, BuiltHub has supported data collection, extraction, and transformation into valuable knowledge for policymakers and stakeholders across the EU. Now, the project proudly shares its results and achievements.
Are you looking for a place to search or upload building-related data? The BuiltHub Platform is ready to serve as your go-to resource! Designed to collect and extract data on building performance and characteristics, this platform is a testbed for transforming raw data into actionable information for diverse users, including policymakers at EU, national, and local levels.
The platform, available here, features several key tools, including:
- Dashboard: A comprehensive overview of key building data metrics.
- Storylines: Detailed insights into building trends and performance.
- Data Library: A searchable repository of building stock data.
- Data Integration Services: Seamless connections to other datasets.
- Help: Support resources for users navigating the platform.
A Platform in Support of the Building Stock Observatory
The BuiltHub Platform integrates seamlessly with existing datasets and repositories, contributing to the creation of a European data hub for evaluating the building stock and tracking progress towards decarbonisation. It also plays a vital role in developing a roadmap for sustainable data flow, storage, and processing across the continent, addressing gaps in data availability.
In March 2024, the European Commission launched a new version of the EU Building Stock Observatory (BSO), offering an improved user interface and expanded data availability. BuiltHub's contributions will continue to support the BSO’s role as Europe's central hub for reliable building stock data.
Project Coordinator Ulrich Filippi from EURAC reflected on the progress made in a press release from the project:
"The BuiltHub project team has diligently and innovatively worked to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable building stock across Europe. As we celebrate the culmination of this project, we are thrilled to reflect on the progress made over the past four years and to explore the opportunities that lie ahead."
Sylvain Robert from the European Climate, Environment, and Infrastructure Executive Agency (CINEA) highlighted the project's connection to the Building Stock Observatory (BSO):
"This project has strong links with the BSO and is bound to contribute to the success of the Observatory."
