The annual Smart Cities Marketplace Forum - part of something big!

SCM forum 2023

This year's edition of the Smart Cities Marketplace Forum will be a part of the joint EC representation at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona on 07-09 November 2023.

The event is the biggest combined expo and conference of its kind in the world, gathering the whole ecosystem: cities and industries, with high-level speakers and decision-makers. It offers a unique opportunity to raise awareness of all the joint efforts in the smart city and urban context supported by the European Commission and supported by the Smart Cities Marketplace.

In this context, the aim of the Forum and the consolidated matchmaking – promoted by the European Commission under the Smart Cities Marketplace – is to:

  • demonstrate the high-level commitment of the European Commission and its initiatives on Climate-Neutral and Smart cities to the promotion of climate neutrality and sustainable cities based on a European smart city best practice model,
  • address relevant EC policies, such as the European Green Deal, RePowerEU, and the Fit for 55 package to only name a few and enhance the visibility and show the urgency to integrate them into the decision-making processes.
  • discuss the future of Smart (Sustainable) Cities and the Smart Cities Marketplace in its function as a hub for synergising with other relevant EU initiatives,
  • initiate a dialogue on how successful innovations and demonstrations can be adjusted to Climate neutral contexts, and, vice versa, which best practices and excellent smart city innovations from the environmental and sustainable scene deserve more attention.

In the context of the Smart Cities Marketplace matchmaking services, representatives of city administrations and smart city project developers are invited to submit their project ideas through the following link. Since Smart Cities Marketplace will be present at the EC stand, our experts can sit with you and help shape your project concept.

In partnership with Catalonia Trade and Investment, the GOOSE project, and the Enterprise Europe Network, the Smart Cities Marketplace will organise a Brokerage event including three Smart Cities Challenges. With this consolidated matchmaking a maximum outreach to European cities and communities is foreseen.  Find out more about the SCWEC Smart Cities Challenges - Apply now! |
