Join the Border Focal Point Network on 20 February 2025, from 10:00–11:00 CET, for the 22nd edition of the Beyond Borders: Breakfast Debate Series, as we delve into the potential of Cross-Border Energy Communities (CBECs) in advancing the EU’s clean energy transition.
Energy communities are transforming how citizens, small businesses, and local authorities across the EU generate and manage energy, driving local resilience and innovation. By expanding this concept across borders, CBECs present a unique opportunity to strengthen energy security, lower costs, and foster regional growth. Yet, realising their full potential demands addressing challenges such as legal barriers, regulatory differences, and limited cross-border cooperation.
What's on the agenda?
- Insights from DG REGIO’s Handbook on Cross-Border Energy Communities.
- Examples of CBECs and their tangible benefits for EU border regions.
- Challenges in launching CBECs and practical solutions to address them.
