This webinar presents some of the work Göteborg Energi has conducted on the utilisation of residential buildings as thermal energy storage, with a focus on the early results from a demo implementation of the technology.
Thermal energy storage is one of the primary ways in which a district heat supplier can achieve peak shaving of heating, which is positive for both the provider and the user. Utilising building inertia is an attractive alternative or complement to constructing hot water tanks for short-term energy storage. The presentation describes a pilot project, intended to collect data for future thermal energy storage projects.
