The LIFE programme is the EU’s flagship funding instrument (since 1992) for environment and climate action. Managed by CINEA (2021–2027), it is structured into four sub‑programmes, namely Nature & Biodiversity, Circular Economy & Quality of Life, Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation, and Clean Energy Transition, with a budget of ~€5.4 billion. LIFE co-finances pilot, best‐practice, demonstration, and integrated projects that implement EU environmental legislation and foster sustainable solutions, from ecosystem restoration and resource efficiency to renewables, resilience, and citizen engagement. The programme also offers extensive guidance and capacity‑building support to applicants, while aligning with European Green Deal and Biodiversity Strategy 2030 objectives.
