PIME'S Site Vitoria-Gasteiz
Vitoria-Gasteiz is the capital city of the province of Álava and of the autonomous community of the Basque Country in northern Spain with a population of 235,665 people. It will be the European Green Capital in 2012.
The main focus of the community is to avoid the need of cooling during the summer and reduce the need of energy for heating in winter. Solar technology and advanced energy distribution will be used to reach the goals of the Concerto 3 programme.
PIME'S Site Szentendre
Szentendre is situated some 30 km north-west from Budapest in Hungary. It is situated next to the river Danube, just some 30 km north-west from Budapest. In this small pitoresk town, PIME'S project covers rehabilitation of houses of flats and a kindergarden, as well as the construction of a new research centre for EMI.
HOLISTIC Site Mödling
Mödling, a town with a population of nearly 25,000 people, is located 14 km South of Vienna. Mödling has committed itself to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 50% in 2010 compared to 1990. The municipality is a member of the Climate Alliance which is dedicated to fighting global warming.
HOLISTIC Site Neuchâtel
Neuchâtel, a town of 32,000 inhabitants at the Lake Neuchâtel in the western canton of Switzerland, will finalise a series of demonstration projects in 2013. It will be on the path to sustainability through increased renewable energy generation capacity and through the intelligent use of that capacity (new eco-buildings, retrofitting buildings and buildings optimization).
HOLISTIC Site Dundalk
Dundalk has set out on the road to being a sustainability pioneer. Located on the east coast of Ireland about halfway between Belfast and Dublin, the town is the site of Ireland´s first sustainable energy zone. This is an area of Dundalk where around 2,500 people live, 3,500 people work, and 5,850 people are in full-time education.
