5G Connectivity to improve digital services

Visual 5G

5G connectivity has the potential to improve all kinds of digital services. Opting for the right type of connectivity is becoming increasingly crucial and at the same time challenging for local decision-makers.

5G offers clear advantages in ensuring secure and reliable digital services, connected objects, cloud integration and the Internet of Things (IoT). However, public authorities' awareness of the advantages is often low and the costs of 5G deployment are considered high.

As a response to this, the “5G for Smart Communities” action under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) – Digital programme is boosting the deployment of 5G infrastructure (reimbursing max 75% of infrastructure costs), especially in underdeveloped areas, to support services of general interest. The first selected projects have use cases from the health, public administration and education sectors, as well as for services related to disaster management, public safety and agriculture.

The 5GSC.eu platform is open to all stakeholders willing to learn more about existing projects and good practices, receive news about future calls and benefit from meeting like-minded stakeholders. You are also welcome to share your views on how 5G can improve services in your community. Register on the platform today and act in time.
