Presentation of successful implementations of mobility solutions that increase air quality, reduce congestion and promote multimodality.

  • Don Cicleto presented its secure parking facilities and how it helps cities promote multimodality.
  • Parkunload showcased how the monitoring of loading zones allows for smoother urban logistics operations.
  • Libelium displayed its environmental data analysis and visualisation system that enables cities to make strategic data-based planning decisions.

Rafael Afonso introduced the EIT Urban Mobility, a knowledge innovation community co-funded by the European Union that aims to accelerate the transition to sustainable urban mobility by connecting local, regional, and national ecosystems. The organization has a network of over 300 organizations in over 40 cities, has delivered over 70 innovation projects since 2020, and supports almost 200 startups. The five challenge areas for 2023 are future mobility, active mobility, the public realm, sustainability logistics, and mobility and energy.

Pablo Rosa Casado, representing Doncicleto, presented a solution for cities to deploy smart and secure bike parking infrastructure. The company offers various types of bike parking facilities, and users can access the network through an app while the operator manages the network through a digital platform. The company works through two types of contracts in Spain: public tender and concession agreement.

Carles Sentis Ríos presented Parkunload’s digital platform that regulates variable parking conditions according to location, time of the day, vehicle type and tonnage, and user profile. Through mobile apps and Bluetooth, the company controls and monitors smart loading and delivery zones while providing city administrations with data dashboards and backlogs on delivery operations.

Lastly, Antonio Jara presented Libelium’s solutions of sensors and software for air quality and noise monitoring. Libelium’s dashboard allows city officers to collect, analyse and visualise data in real time and make data-based decisions for the implementation of strategic planning that ensures the sustainable development of their territory.

During a conversation between Rafael Afonso, Pablo Rosa Casado, Carles Sentís Ros, and Antonio Jara they discussed sustainable mobility solutions. Pablo Rosa Casado emphasised the importance of secure bike parking to promote micro-mobility in cities. Carles Sentís Ros discussed the issue of urban logistics and introduced Parkunload, a platform that regulates controls, and monitors smart loading and delivery zones to decrease their carbon footprint. The platform uses a unique zone code, Bluetooth technology, and an app for drivers and parking officers to make parking conditions variable and dynamic. Finally, Antonio Jara showcased how Libelium assists cities in easily monitoring environmental parameters and transparently sharing them with citizens.
