The global renewable energy community REN21 is preparing the second edition of its "Renewables in Cities Global Status Report (REC)". Share your invaluable experiences and knowledge on the topic and contribute to the upcoming edition!
In the past decade the world has been through unexpectedly fast progress in renewables with improved technologies and decreased prices. An advancement like this brings along challenges for the policy landscape.
The first publication „Renewable Energy Policies in a Time of Transition“ focused on the sectors power, heating and cooling and transport in order to provide policy makers with a better understanding of the broad range of policy options for an increased renewable energy deployment. Furthermore, the publication highlights the importance of system integration and sector coupling, looking beyond the energy policy sector alone, in order to achieve a global energy transition.
In their second report, REN21 focuses on advancing renewables in the heating and cooling sector. This sector is key to achieving the energy transition. Here, particularly, the role of local/city action and policies plays an important role.
In this regard, and to showcase important developments on renewable energy in cities, REN21 is actively addressing smart city projects and communities to support them in strengthening the voice on renewable heating and cooling in cities. Please provide any relevant information on targets, policies, market, investment, and citizen participation at the city-level.
