EIP-SCC Marketplace Matchmaking Event at Smart City Expo World Congress 14 November 2018 in Barcelona, SpainAs urban populations swell, infrastructure needs mount and budget constraints loom, cities and their citizens need help to move urgent civic improvement projects forward. We have expanded our activities to matchmaking: an opportunity for cities and the private sector to connect with financiers around specific project discussions. It is our aim to bridge the gap of access to finance and to build the connections between the various players needed for projects to happen. This online platform was launched in May 2018 and facilitates these urban project promoters and financiers to connect online, in order to facilitate meaningful connections to happen offline. We are regularly organising events with coordinated meetings between those who submit projects and the financiers - the next one will take place in Barcelona during the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) on 14 November 2018. The Region of Northern Hesse to take off smart logistics to the 3rd dimension for its urban and inter-urban areasThe city of Bad Hersfeld and the region of Northern Hesse have expressed their willingness to define a UAM Initiative demonstration project for addressing the mobility needs of the region, with an initial focus on logistics across the airports' chain of Kassel Calden and Frankfurt am Main. “The region of Northern Hesse is rural in its structure but has the latest acceptance time for consignments in Germany. The "Urban Air Mobility" (UAM) Initiative of the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP-SCC) aims to accelerate practical application studies of drone and air taxi technologies and their consequent implementation. The cross-border region of Euregio joins the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) InitiativeThe Euregio, a cross-border region around Twente and bordering parts of Niedersachsen and Nordrhein-Westfalia, becomes the first UAM Initiative demonstration project featuring cross-border regional cooperation between two European countries. The intended cooperation aims to improve public safety in the border area by using innovative air mobility.
