New SCIS Publication: Why May Replication (Not) Be Happening?

The present policy analysis investigates the reasons why replication of smart urban energy, mobility and ICT solutions for a clean energy future occurs with difficulty. While evidence from smart city projects suggests that the devil is often in the details, it is at the same time possible to identify common mechanisms that appear to hamper replication. The present paper identifies and discusses some of these major barriers. Opportunities for overcoming them are suggested.

In follow-up papers, specific barriers and opportunities will be examined into more detail with a view on formulating further policy recommendations.

You can find a first version of this publication in our Resources section.  A printed version will be published early 2019.
