Scalable Cities 12th Call for Visitor Cities in Charleroi is Now Open!

The Scalable Cities Secretariat is pleased to announce that the 12th Call for Visitor Cities is now open.

The city of Charleroi will host this site visit from 1-3 April 2025 during the ASCEND General Assembly. This visit offers a valuable opportunity for cities to explore innovative approaches to Positive Clean Energy Districts (PCEDs), energy-efficient solutions, and inclusive urban development strategies.

Key Highlights

Participants will:

  • Gain insights into the development and implementation of PCEDs within the ASCEND project.
  • Explore Solution Packages focused on energy communities, energy-efficient buildings, and citizen-centered innovations.
  • Visit key project locations in Charleroi, showcasing clean energy initiatives and economic development strategies.
  • Participate in peer-to-peer exchanges and learning sessions.
  • Discuss investment and governance models for sustainable urban development.
  • Engage in interactive sessions on climate resilience and smart city strategies.

Who Can Apply?

This call is open to Lighthouse and Fellow Cities participating in ongoing or closed SCC and PED projects as well as cities outside of the Scalable CIties Community, including those invovled in other European inititaivies. 

Each city can submit a proposal with up to two representatives — one from a city department, public or semi-public utility company, public agency, or coordinating authority, and an additional representative specified in the application form.

How to Apply

Interested cities can apply by visiting the Scalable Cities website, where they will find the Terms of Reference and the Application Form. Applications must be submitted via the EU Survey Application Platform.

The application deadline is 24 March 2025, at 12:00 CET.
