Call to European Cities: Endorse the Inclusive Smart Cities Manifesto and become Ambassador of Citizen Engagement!

On 23rd November 2016, the EIP-SCC Manifesto on Citizen Engagement was successfully launched during the Conference Inclusive Smart Cities: A European Manifesto on Citizen Engagement, being endorsed by more than 120 public and private sectors representatives.

The Manifesto was the outcome of a co-creation experiment that has seen more than 50 stakeholders engaged and actively contributing to shape its contents.

Given the success registered in November, the Citizen Focus Action Cluster of the EIP-SCC, with continuous support from ICLEI Europe, would like to enlarge the Manifesto outreach and conduct a series of follow up activities, leading to the selection of Ambassador Cities that will share their experience and best practices on the implementation of initiatives driven by the Manifesto principles. The Cluster Team will take direct contact with the signatory cities of the Manifesto as well as explore other outstanding citizen engagement examples in Europe.

The call for self-nominations is now open for all cities interested to proactively propose their activities on citizen engagement to the Action Cluster Citizen Focus attention. Submit your interest to our management team at citizenfocus@eu-smartcities.eu!

Aiming to expand the dissemination of the Manifesto and to make it accessible to a wider range of European cities, we have translated the original document in additional languages. We propose to use these documents to allow the Manifesto reaching also local contexts. Once a city has endorsed the Manifesto, we invite to share it on the institutional website and to organise in the near future press conferences or dedicated local events.
