Rapid environmental changes are impacting cities worldwide, necessitating swift and innovative actions. The Rapid Applications for Transport (RAPTOR) Programme aims to address these challenges through its agile competition, matching European cities facing urban mobility hurdles with startups offering innovative solutions.

In 2024, thirteen cities from various parts of Europe, each grappling with unique mobility challenges, have been selected to participate in the Rapid Applications for Transport (RAPTOR) programme. Among them are Bacău, Romania, focusing on active mobility for seniors, and Brussels Capital Region, Belgium, aiming to improve delivery logistics in low-traffic neighborhoods.

The RAPTOR 2024 Call was launched on 29 February 2024, inviting startups to propose solutions addressing these city mobility challenges. Supported by technical and business advisors, each city will select promising startups to receive funding for developing solutions to be tested within the city within five months of award.

The projects, following the agile methodology of the programme, will commence in August and continue until December 2024. During this period, winners will collaborate closely with their respective cities to develop and tailor innovative startup solutions to meet specific requirements and conduct real-life demonstrations to test and validate them.

Up to thirteen awardees, one per city challenge, will be selected and supported financially, technically, and commercially by EIT Urban Mobility from August to December 2024. In addition to funding of up to €40,000, awardees will receive technical and business mentoring and support for marketing and promoting the project. Applications are open to startups from EU Member States or Horizon Europe associated states until 6 May 2024, 17:00h CET.
