European Sustainable Energy Week, Brussels, Belgium (9-11 June)
The Smart Cities Marketplace participated in this year's Energy Fair during EUSEW 2026 with a shared stand. The stand, titled “Shaping sustainable energy in cities: Athens, Velenje & Smart Cities Marketplace”, was co-hosted by the Smart Cities Marketplace together with the Energy Poverty Alleviation Office (EPAO), Municipality of Athens and Municipality of Velenje.
Visitors were particularly interested in concrete project examples, financing opportunities, and practical support for scaling up sustainable and energy-efficient urban solutions, leading to a number of engaging discussions and valuable exchanges with stakeholders from across Europe.
This year, EUSEW brought together more than 2400 onsite and over 2200 online participants from 117 countries, reaffirming its position as Europe's leading event dedicated to renewable energy and energy efficiency. Together, they contributed to three inspiring days of discussions, networking and collaboration focused on Europe's clean energy future.
The three-day programme featured a high-level Policy Conference with around 50 sessions, addressing key topics such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy affordability, and the development of a competitive and secure Energy Union.
DUT (Driving Urban Transition Partnership) Final Conference, Brussels, Belgium (10 June 2026)
The Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) Final Conference took place on 10 June 2026 in Brussels as a policy and networking event focusing on sustainable urban development. It gathered stakeholders from academia, public authorities, industry and European institutions to discuss how to accelerate the transition towards climate-neutral and resilient cities.
The conference highlighted the strategic direction of the DUT Partnership towards 2033, showcasing concrete results, lessons learned, and scalable solutions from DUT-funded projects, particularly in the fields of urban mobility, energy and circular economy.
Through panel discussions, workshops and project presentations, participants explored how to translate European and global policy goals, such as the Green Deal and the Urban Agenda, into local actions.
The event emphasised the importance of transdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange, offering a platform for networking and for building partnerships that support the implementation and scaling of innovative urban solutions across Europe.
