Call for Applications - Matchmaking Services

The Smart Cities Marketplace offers matchmaking services to assist cities and city consortia develop project ideas to achieve climate neutrality. Calls for applications help identify and refine project ideas to make them financially viable through customised technical assistance. These services connect investors with Smart city proposals. Mature projects receive additional support through meetings with the platform's Investor Network

To use the Smart Cities Marketplace services, cities or city consortia can directly use the Smart Cities Marketplace matchmaking team with their name, city/organisation and contact details.

They will then receive an intake form. Applications are accepted continuously, assessed, and followed up on personally. For help with the intake form, refer to the Guidance Document.

To be eligible, applications must meet these requirements:

  • The project must be in an EU Member State or a Horizon Europe-eligible country (Horizon Europe programme).
  • Applicants must represent a city or consortium with at least one city supporting the project. Small and mid-sized cities (under 100,000 inhabitants) are the main focus, but larger cities can also apply.
  • Applicants must have a suitable project or technology (e.g., clean energy, sustainable mobility, digital solutions), the project location, main beneficiaries, and key stakeholders identified.

The Smart Cities Marketplace offers support for developing project ideas. To improve your project for application, consult the Solution Booklets here.
