The Smart Cities Marketplace has launched a new collaboration with the Municipality of Arteixo, Spain, to accelerate sustainable urban mobility and energy efficiency. Following a successful application for technical assistance with the project “The Urban and Rural Agenda of Arteixo (AURA)”, Arteixo has been selected to receive tailored one-on-one consultancy from leading experts within the Marketplace.
Situated in the northwest of A Coruña province, Arteixo is recognised as a key industrial and economic hub, serving as a vital connection point for the wider metropolitan area. The city’s ambition to modernise its mobility infrastructure and align with broader sustainability goals has led to a comprehensive support plan, developed in partnership with experts from EIT Urban Mobility and Th!nk E.
The technical assistance will focus on several strategic areas, including the identification of market-ready solutions for electric buses, assessment of charging infrastructure and intermodal hubs, and guidance on procurement processes. The initiative also aims to ensure that Arteixo’s efforts are in line with the Covenant of Mayors commitments and to explore further EU funding opportunities, building on the progress already made with the European Regional Development Fund.
This partnership underscores the Smart Cities Marketplace’s commitment to supporting cities across Europe in their transition towards greener, more efficient urban environments.
