Join the Sinfonia team on Friday 17 July 2020 at 10:30 for their last SINFONIA "Smart City Talks" webinar to learn more about the experience of our lighthouse city Bolzano in deploying smart urban services for its citizens!
The city of Bolzano is one of the first smart cities in Italy. Within the framework of the EU-funded SINFONIA project, the Municipality collaborated with research centres and companies to design and implement an Urban Service-Oriented Sensible Grid (USOS-grid) that will improve mobility and expand the services offered to citizens.
Today, a network of over 100 “smart points” collects and gives real-time information on traffic and weather conditions that users can read on variable message signs; a smart lightening system automatically dims streetlights when no one is around to save energy and three multifunctional interactive totems give citizens and tourists alike the possibility to charge their bikes or electric cars while reading what’s going on in the city.
This webinar offers an insight into the implementation of smart points and multifunctional interactive totems in Bolzano. The presentations will explore the process from the early phases of concept development and assessment of citizens’ needs, to the installation of the infrastructure, including the identification of suitable location for integrated infrastructures, and city data monitoring.

ABOUT SINFONIA
The SINFONIA project, co-ordinated by RISE, brings more than 30 European partners, including seven cities, prominent research centres, housing and building companies, consultancy groups and other experts. At the heart of the initiative is a unique cooperation between the cities of Bolzano and Innsbruck, working hand in hand to achieve 40 to 50% primary energy savings and increase the share of renewables by 20% in two pioneer districts. This has been done through an integrated set of measures combining the retrofitting of more than 100,000m² of living surface, optimisation of the electricity grid, and solutions for district heating and cooling.
