The European Commission adopted the 2016 Annual Union Work Programme (AUWP) for European standardisation on January 8, 2016. This programme lays down the Commission’s intentions to use standardisation in support of new or existing legislation and policies. Each year the European Commission publishes an Annual Work Programme to identify the main objectives of European standardisation. The AUWP aims to boost growth and employment in the EU.
This year, the programme foresees standardisation work to implement the Clean Power for Transport package. Furthermore, standards on labelling will be developed to provide users with simple information on the compatibility of their vehicles with fuels or electricity re-charging points. The Commission will ask the standardisation organisations (CEN, CENELEC, ETSI) to develop standards for automatic information sharing between the national authorities involved in maritime surveillance. The objective will be to promote cross-border and cross-sector information sharing.
