DIRECTION Project: Real Results of High Performance through Buildings

The DIRECTION project has created a dynamic framework for constructing new low-energy buildings and its final results will be presented during an academia-industry seminar taking place on 17 February 2016 in Munich, Germany.

Marking the end of the project, the final event will gather European architects, developers and constructors who will share their insights and experience on topics such as building performance analysis, cost control and design-construction-operation-methodology.

The global diffusion framework created by DIRECTION is based on three pillars:

  • Analysis of suitable energy efficiency technologies (technical and economic viability)
  • Demonstration activity deployed in three new buildings
  • Dissemination at European Level.

Two buildings are used as pilots - Munich’s NuOffice and Valladolid’s CARTIF III. A set of very innovative measures, constructive elements for energy optimisation, highly efficient equipment and advanced energy management are deployed in each of them. All of the above makes it possible to enhance the overall energy efficiency of the building in order to achieve consumption (primary energy) lower than 60 kWh/m2/yr.

DIRECTION’s sustainable buildings experts will tell us about the challenges they faced and the real-life solutions they found as they conclude four years of work.
