The Smart Cities Information System is a collaboration between five partner organisations, each of which brings their expertise to the mix. A look behind the scenes at our dedicated team of professionals:
GOPA Com.
GOPA com. takes care of the overall management of SCIS and the development of the database, whilst making sure that the SCIS communicates the right messages to the right people, in other words – project management, IT and communications.
Cordelia and Nebojsa ensure that we work well together and keep within deadlines and budget. Veronika and Yana craft our communication strategy and are the voices you hear via the newsletter, on social media and at events. Michel is the IT mastermind behind the SCIS database and website.
The Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT)
AIT is in charge of SCIS monitoring activities, providing guidance to the projects, collecting data from demo sites and taking care of the updates of the technical monitoring database.
Branislav and Catrin coordinate these activities and look for complementarity and the possibility to benefit from synergies with related initiatives. Sebastian and Antonio take care of all technical tasks, answer users’ requests and deal with all aspects related to project monitoring. Jan keeps an eye on the development of the database and the visualisation of its indicators.
Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS)
CEPS is in charge of the policy analysis and recommendations section of SCIS. Their work, which is based on analysis and consultations, focuses on providing information on barriers and enablers for smart city technologies in an effort to promote the dissemination and uptake of new technologies.
Jorge takes care of the overall coordination of this policy-related activity, and he guides Monica, Cristian and Anna in setting up this user-friendly information system, as well as developing the questionnaires to receive information from projects on policy barriers and enablers, and socio-economic aspects of technology adoption.
The Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN)
ECN is involved in the analysis and recommendations part of the system, with a focus on engaging with stakeholders and performing selective interviews to gather input for the development of the database.
Paul, a senior advisor at ECN on a range of energy subjects, dealing with topics from technology to socio-economic and policy issues, is also involved in drafting the policy recommendations that arise from SCIS.
Regional Environmental Centre for Central and Eastern Europe (REC)
With its team of experts, REC provides support in reaching out to stakeholders in the various fields of sustainable development. Particularly valuable is their reach into Central and Eastern Europe.
Gabor from REC actively participates in smart cities events across Europe to promote SCIS among the relevant stakeholders and to receive their feedback on how the database can answer their needs.
