The CIVITAS Forum 2021 is a bi-annual conference that gathers some of the keenest cities, people and projects across Europe to exchange and connect on topics related to sustainable and smart mobility and cities.
This year, in its 18th edition, the CIVITAS Initiative’s flagship conference will be on 20-21 October in Aachen, Germany. It will be centralized around the theme of “Smart routes towards climate-neutral cities”. This builds on the European Commission’s mission to create 100 climate-neutral cities by 2030.
In previous years, the Forum has specifically focused on mobility as a means to fostering smart and sustainable cities. This year however, with a theme that reaches across so many sectors, the Forum is taking a more inclusive approach – as reflected in its programme.
Topics like active and shared mobility or urban logistics are discussed side-by-side with topics such as strategies for reaching zero emissions, the creation of ‘liveable cities’ and the use of data in mobility planning.
This year’s CIVITAS Forum will utilise a hybrid format, combining online and onsite activities. Over the course of its two days, it will continue the tradition of offering interactive workshops, intriguing sessions, and interesting site visits, whilst introducing exciting new programme elements.
Given the uncertain situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, on-site attendees can be confident that all health and safety measures will be stringent.
