AccaDe Scuola

The first institutional online platform designed especially for students and teachers in Lazio and Central Italy.

AccaDe Scuola is a hybrid e-learning platform intended for secondary vocational schools. Focused towards improving the digital learning experience for native pupils, whilst also assisting in the inclusion of foreign students, AccaDe Scuola’s workspace system captures and maintains students’ attention to a greater extent than existing online learning systems.

Utilising virtual classroom tools such as a Virtual Whiteboard, videoconferencing, participant management features, microphone and webcam configuration and fun quizzes, AccaDe Scuola has been created especially for the Metropolitan City of Rome and provides Professional Institutes with a tool capable of fully guaranteeing the objectives and teaching methods for 2nd level schools.

The platform is hosted by the CED of the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital which ensures students’ (who are often underaged) data is kept safe, in addition to the use of personal login credentials for extra security.

Innovative elements

Tools For Engaging Interactions
Quizzes are implemented to check the degree of attention and understanding from students during teaching time, supported further by the ability to monitor webcams and microphones.
Combining Teaching Techniques
Achieving a balance between traditional and virtual teaching, supporting the reintroduction of education practices post-COVID-19.

Success factors

Data Protection
The platform is hosted by a public server managed by the CED of the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital to keep students’ data safe.
Large Hosting Capacity
A large number of Virtual Classrooms can be hosted simultaneously, helping to bridge the gap between traditional lessons and the technological equipment deriving from e-learning.

Enablers

The Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan City of Rome, Teresa Maria Zotta
Positive feedback and encouragement for the system to be implemented into further education programmes, following the initial trial period of Accade Scuola in 2020, shared via the official Citta Metropolitana Roma website.

Barriers challenges

eGovernment and Digitising Public Services
Acceptance from the government to allow students under the age of 18 to use the online platform, in addition to approval from caregivers.
Agreement From The Regional School Office
Ensuring a coherent system that follows educational regulations and modules.
Technology In Households
All participants must have access to computers and WiFI internet to benefit from this system.

Resources needed

Management Rules from Teachers
the virtual Classroom has been designed to be a flexible tool that is hosted by Teachers who will need to monitor students’ usage and ensure all participants are following the same Rules and academic materials.
Digital equipment Funding For students
Should any students not have access to a laptop, computer or internet WiFi, Funding must be found to ensure equality throughout the classroom.
